It’s been far too long since I posted on my Tumblr. I’ve decided to make an effort to post on here way more often. With that said, here is a self portrait I did the other day titled ‘Where the Wind Took Me’.
I wanted it to portray the feeling of being free and, with an open mind, letting opportunities arise out of thin air. My favorite part about photography is that I can take a feeling that I have, and make it a visual story. Life is a long road, and it takes twists and turns unexpectedly. Sometimes you come to that fork in the road and you have to make decisions. That is undeniable. But, in the end, you can’t control every aspect of your life. Sure you can make good decisions, set goals, work toward them, follow your dreams, love your neighbor, and put yourself in good places. But one of the true beauties of life is watching it unfold before your eyes. You are ultimately the only person that can get you where you want to be. But if you don’t sometimes just let life’s wind blow you around a little bit, you will miss opportunities for things you didn’t even realize you wanted.
cultures-become-trends asked: Cool. I'd say we should go shoot sometime soon but I'm at school in New York so that's not a possibility hahah. Keep exploring the Hamm's brewery. It is even bigger than you think. Rooftops on rooftops on rooftops.
Ohh man, sounds fun! Well when you’re ever back in MN i’m always down to shoot. And yessss, the place is gigantic! I’m excited to see more of it.
cultures-become-trends asked: Good stuff. Real good stuff. Where in MN are you from?
Thanks man! I live in Farmington, a small suburb south of the cities.
A recent photo shoot I had with Melissa Neumann. We went to a pretty cool spot in St. Paul, called Bruce Vento Nature Sanctuary. There is a cool old abandoned building right when you first arrive. I really liked the vibe of this shot, it seemed to express the mood around the old building.
I went to Duluth a couple weekends ago. I’ve been there a couple times before, but both times I went I had a schedule that I had to keep to. I couldn’t venture off and do whatever I wanted.
I got 3 days off of work. Never asked for them, just got three off in a row. This is rare, so I decided to head out of town. Just to get away. So me and Andrew just packed up and took off without much planning. We stayed at a friends house and just kind of screwed around up there for a couple days. Its a super rad area, I love it.
I went to the sickest place i’ve been in quite a while. Graffiti Graveyard. Holy shit! Got some photos there that I really liked, but I LOST MY SD CARD! :[ So now I have no proof. HA I guess i’ll just have to go back one of these weekends.
Anyways, heres a few photos from the trip. Overlooking Duluth.
My good friend Kenzie came to visit from Colorado. I hung out with her and some friends, and I met some awesome new people. This was a fun day, Good vibes and good chillin’!
From the last Vision|Heirs meet up I went to. JK waves goodbye as he boards the light rail C:
A couple weeks ago I went to log in to my tumblr and I was told that my email was incorrect. I knew it was correct but there was nothing I could do to get into my account! I felt defeated, and I thought I was going to have to start over. Then today I hopped on a computer that I was once logged in on, and what do ya know! I’m still logged in. So I changed my email and badabing badaboom i’m good to go. Wooo [:
A couple friends and I wanted to get out for some exploring one evening, so we went to this train bridge above 94. We almost traveled to another dimension, but that’s a different story.
There’s always a bunch of spray paint cans laying around. Like hundreds of them. The walls of this bridge are tagged all up and down, its pretty rad. I set up my tripod and began framing out a shot. It was dark at this point, so I grabbed my little LED to try and see.
I remember asking, “Do trains come through here often?”
haha, well maybe 30 seconds later we heard a horn and saw some lights a comin’ so I grabbed my stuff and stepped back to get this shot. It was a passenger train, so people were giving me tons weird looks as it passed by. I got a kick out of it :)
"For me, exploration is about that journey to the interior, into your own heart. I’m always wondering, how will I act at my moment of truth? Will I rise up and do what’s right, even if every fiber of my being is telling me otherwise?”
